Sweeney on the Athlon64

FiringSquad interviewed Epic's Tim Sweeney about the need and usefulness of 64-bit computing, especially with the forthcoming Athlon64. If that chip ends up being what it is cracked up to be, I think I know what the heart of my next box is going to be. Of course, that's a bit of a ways off. As a Linux freak, it's also cool to know that people could be running 64-bit Linux years before there's a 64-bit Windows. Thanks Blue's News.

J.t.Qbe comments: Or you could go with VMS and, well, have been running 64-bit for the last 10 years on a DEC Alpha. A local PC repair shop has 2 lonely Alpha machines in the corner, and the owner doesn't even know what they are. I may need to go liberate them.
