Bleh

The Return of the King opens today. We won't be going. *Waaahhhhhh!*

J.t.Qbe comments: I'm on my way out the door right now. No large pop. No large pop. No large pop.

The Master comments: Aaaaarrrrrggghhh!!!

A.T. Hun comments: Well, I still haven't seen the first one . . .

J.t.Qbe comments: A.T., you can't be my friend any more.

Return of the King ran 3 hours and 10 minutes, and every single minute of the thing was spectacular. It's definitely the biggest and probably the best of the 3. A must-see, but only after seeing the first two.

A.T. Hun comments: My wife has the super-mega-ultra-extended version of the first movie on DVD and asked for the second one for Christmas. If I develop the butt muscles to survive it, I might try watching them.

NWN 1.61 Patches Released

Bioware has released the 1.61 patches for Neverwinter Nights, which allows owners of the original game, Shadows of Undrentide, and/or Hordes of the Underdark to play with/against each other online. It also enables Linux users like myself to play Hordes of the Underdark. Rapture!

Pondering the Imponderable

If there's something better than hot and sour soup on a cold day, I'd like to know what it is.

The Master comments: My Beef Veggie soup. But that's just me :-)

J.t.Qbe comments: You're both wrong. It's Vegetarian Eggrolls followed by Mock Duck and Fried Potatoes at Kimson in Bloomington, Minnesota. Hmmm. I need to talk my boss into another trip back to the home office.

Gael Duval Interview

Linux Questions conducted an interview with Gael Duval, the founder of Mandrake Linux. It covers Mandrake's origins as well as its planned emergence from bankruptcy protection. I thought it was interesting that the first distro he used was Slackware. Mandrake is now the anti-Slackware, meaning that it has graphical wizards and utilities for almost everything and that it is very bleeding edge. Slackware is more "Here's your Linux! Go!" with an emphasis on stability.

Even though I am a former Mandrake and a current Slackware user, I wish them all the best. Hopefully they and SUSE can get "Joe User" to try Linux. Then, once they are comfortable with it, they can try Slackware :) Thanks Slashdot.
