Bleh

After rebuilding my PC, adding a new video card (Asylum 7600 GS 512mb), and changing the PCI timing to 32, I can finally play Half-Life 2: Episode 1. A note for VIA Mobo buyers: don't go near Sound Blaster sound cards with VIA. I think there's bad mojo there.

A.T. Hun comments: It is my personal opinion that you should avoid VIA motherboards entirely. The Sound Blaster issue has been there forever, amongst other problems. I even got a VIA USB 2.0 card which was kind enough to cause my system to lock up randomly. A quick review of several USB-related forums showed that I was by no means alone.

I'm sick and tired of jumping puzzles, and the glass floors are a terminal PITA, but overall it's been a good game. I'm looking forward to playing through SiN Episodes again as well, since I had the same sound stuttering problems there as well.
