NFL Week #1 -- 9:41 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

Down 0-1, here are the rest of my ph34rless predictions for this weekend's games in the National Football League: Saints, Seahawks, Titans, Bengals, Broncos, Patriots, Bucs, Panthers, Eagles, Bears, Cardinals, Cowboys, Colts, Redskins, Chargers. Sadly, I don't feel terribly good about a lot of these picks.

The Master comments: This week's differences: Browns, Jaguars. Yeah, I'm being lazy, but differences lists are a lot shorter these days :-)

Cedega and X-Wing Alliance -- 7:32 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

I recently resubscribed to Cedega, the fork of WINE which allows you to play Windows games under Linux. I mainly wanted to see if a weird bug with Jedi Academy had been fixed (it was). I discovered tonight that as of Cedega 5.1, you can play one of my all-time favorite games, X-Wing Alliance. The good news is that it runs. The bad news is that in 3D mode it runs like a pig. Switching to 2D is ugly, but it works--and the ability to play the game is worth it. I'm hoping that future revisions of Cedega can crank up the performance. As it is I'm thrilled to be able to play it again.

By the by, the destruction of the second Death Star at the end of X-Wing Alliance is easily the most difficult thing I've ever accomplished in a video game. What a rush!
