Make Something Unreal: Phase #1 Winners

Epic announced the winners of phase one of their $1 million Make Something Unreal competition for Unreal Tournament 2003. I'm going to have to check out some of the winners, if I can get them to install in Linux with a minimum of headaches.

NFL Week #15 Final

Oops! I forgot to do this earlier in the week. This past weekend, I ended up 14-2 while Eeyore was 13-3. Year-to-date that makes me 149-75 (.665) while she is 146-78 (.652). Only two weeks left! By way of comparison, right now I am only trailing two of the seven ESPN experts.

My Fightin' Wombats did end up losing. Even though I had a substantially better regular-season record this year, I went no further in the playoffs. It was a bad time for my defense to lay an egg.

Linux Kernel 2.6.0 Released!

Yes kids, it's true! Linus has officially released the 2.6.0 kernel. Get it from kernel.org (be gentle, they are getting Slashdotted right now. You can also check the changelog. I like the summary of the changelog which was posted on Slashdot, which I reproduce in all its glory:

But if you really want a ultra-summed-up explination, 2.6 has 63.8% more kickassedness than 2.4 does. That and ALSA support built in.

Preach on! This document lists everything you will need to know to upgrade your 2.4.x kernel to 2.6.x.

WineX 3.2.1 Released

Transgaming has released WineX 3.2.1, a bugfix update to their popular gaming-oriented fork of WINE (an "open-source implementation of the Windows API"). You can read the changelog to see all the fun fixes.
