EZ-Net Article -- 6:07 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

The local newspaper, The Green Bay Press-Gazette, ran an article the other day about EZ-Net, our gracious host. I've been a customer since the summer of 1997. I've never had a better ISP. You're not likely to find one anywhere. My only disappointment with the article was that Dave (the founder) didn't mention me as his favorite customer :)

J.t.Qbe comments: That's a nice little article. I hope it helps to bring a little more business their way too. Sounds like they're doing good work up nort dere.

The Master comments: It's always good to see a great company get the credit they deserve. EZ has gone out of their way to build an ISP that is responsive and customer-oriented. Having dealt with 4 ISPs that were the exact opposite in the Green Bay area, it's hard to emphasize enough how lucky the rural NE Wisconsin area has it.

Finally! Non-Ugly Fonts -- 6:32 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

I finally figured out how to change the default "Sans" and "Sans Serif" fonts in Mandrake 9.1 (using fontconfig 2.x). Apparently it reads /etc/fonts/fonts.conf for this information. What I did was look for this comment in that file:

Provide required aliases for standard names

Under each section for serif, sans serif, and monospace, move the font name that you want as the default to the top of the list. By default, Mandrake 9.1 uses Nimbus Roman No9 L as its default serif font which is ugly as sin itself in italics, making sites like Slashdot nearly unreadable. All is better with the world now . . .

Bitstream Vera Fonts Released -- 9:41 am CST, Update by A.T. Hun

Bitstream has released their free Vera font family. As you may recall, this was a special deal worked out between the Gnome foundation and Bitstream to release these fonts free of copyright issues. I've installed them and am trying them out with Mozilla. Thanks Slashdot.
