NFL Week #17

Since we're going to be heading out for the family Christmas today, I figure I'd better get Eeyore's picks up before we take off: Giants, Raiders, Bills, Vikings, Dolphins, Saints, Steelers, Redskins, Falcons, Titans, Colts, Broncos, Packers, Chargers, Bucs, 49ers.

A.T. Hun comments: Ahh, the last weekend of the regular season. An amazing 12 of the 16 games have playoff implications! I'm going to post my Saturday picks now and my Sunday ones later. For today: Giants, Raiders. Same as Eeyore.

UPDATE! Now that today's games are over, here are the rest of my picks for this weekend: Steelers, Redskins, Titans, Bills, Falcons, Vikings, Dolphins, Saints, Colts, Jets, Broncos, Chargers, Bucs, 49ers.

EverCrack Whining

Someone sent an article to Slashdot whining about the dark side of EverQuest. If you hate a game, but still pay monthly fees to play it, whose fault is it? If you can't bear to think of people you don't even know being mad at you for stopping playing, you need to get out more. If you legitimately are addicted (questionable, but possible), you have no one to blame but yourself for the addiction and continuing in it. I'm actually amazed Slashdot ran this. It does give insight into the logic (or lack thereof) that you hear from some EQ players.

J.t.Qbe comments: Ok, so I attempted to read the thing and my main reaction is, "So what?" Of course the primary purpose of these games is to make money, a steady, predictable, recurring income. Do EQ gamers think that Sony's providing the game out of the goodness of its heart? Of course they reward those who put the most time into them. Why should it be otherwise?

If you don't like the way the game works, quit. Play a real game. Get a real life. Interact with real people. Quit whining and thinking that people are going to care about your complaints. Yeah, you really have to wonder why trashdot published this. On second thought, maybe not.

Interview with David Braben

Computer and Video Games posted an interview with David Braben, one of the men responsible for the classic game Elite. He talks about the state of the game industry in general and briefly mentions a new Elite game which they are just starting to work on again. Between Elite and Ultima III, it's surprising that J.t. and I graduated from college. Thanks Blue's News.

J.t.Qbe comments: Of course, you meant to say "between Elite, Ultima III and Michelob."

A.T. Hun comments: I don't clearly remember Michelob having anything to do with it. :)
