SoF II Single Player Demo

Raven has released the single player demo of Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix. Blue has a list of mirrors. Good luck getting through though. The mirrors are swamped with DOOM video downloads and such. I'm looking forward to trying that out when I get home.

Solaris 9 Released

Mmmm, Solaris. Gotta get me a SPARC of my own one of these days.

Of course, at work we're moving to Linux. For the cost of a year's Sun support on our old hardware, we can buy all new Linux servers.

Carmack Interview

Gamespy caught up with id's John Carmack to talk a bit about (what else?) the DOOM III engine. Included is a list of video cards which should work well when the game comes out. The frightening thing is that my Athlon XP 1800+ and GeForce3 Ti200 will likely be pushed to its limits (and beyond) by DOOM III. Thanks Shacknews.

NS 7.0 RC 1 released

Netscape has released Netscape 7.0 RC1 for download, along with a list of what's new. I'm thinking about trying this bad boy out myself -- anything to get away from Internet Exploder.

A.T. Hun comments: Seven? They skipped right on to seven? Oh well. Personally, I'd say go right to the source (literally) and get Mozilla instead.

Doom III Preview

Gamespy has put up a Preview of Doom III article talking about the E3 debut of Doom III, what they saw, and some info on the game. Yum.

A.T. Hun comments: Sounds like it's going to be pretty awesome. It was interesting to note that they hired a bona-fide science fiction author to write the script for it. They must really be intent on not making this a "run, shoot, run some more" kind of game. I was also glad to see that the rumor that it was coming out on XBox first proved to be false.

UPDATE by A.T. Hun Gamespy now also has some hi-res screenshots from the demo for your viewing pleasure.
