PS3 Tidbits

One of the Ars Technica bloggers posted some interesting tidbits on Sony's forthcoming PS3. Here's the bit that I am very glad to be getting confirmation of:

It will have TiVo-like capabilities. Sure, Sony, you might have told me sweet nothings about a USB video input box that will allow the PS3 to record movies and TV to the micro HDD, and you got me so worked up when you whispered to me about being able to download the shows I've missed from my PS3 to my PSP over the Internet, but I think I'll stick with DirecTiVo, thank you ver much.

American McGee/Tom Hall Interviews

QuakeMarine has posted another Quake interview, this one with American McGee. They discuss American's new business venture, and how Quake affected his career.

DoomMarine (this whole "x"Marine thing is a single new gaming network) has an even better interview with Tom Hall where Tom talks about what he's doing, and why he was unhappy with all of the Doom games. Good stuff here as well.

Pondering the Imponderable

Whew, what a week. It began on Saturday as a convention in Minnesota that I was attending kicked off. It was supposed to run through Friday. On Wednesday I had to return home because of an emergency, leaving my family in Minnesota. I returned to MN yesterday. I'm planning on coming home for good on Monday. Around and around I go.

I've been very thankful for EZ-Net's webmail service so I could keep up with my email (and keep my spam under control) while I was gone. I've gone from my cable modem to dialup to a campus-wide T-something to my cable and now back to dialup. This much is for sure: I'm officially addicted to broadband. Dialup is nice when there are no other alternatives, but that's about it.

The NHL draft is today which means precious little to me since I have no clue about most of these prospects. I'm just happy that the NHL is back. Of course, the way things are looking, my Wings could be in a world of hurt this year. They seem to be having problems signing their own free agents. Of course, with so many free agents out there, that might not be a problem after all. Now I just have to see if my father-in-law can get tickets for the Wild when the Red Wings are in town.
