Half-Life 2 on Older Vid Cards

Anandtech ran a whole slew of benchmarks, playing Half-Life 2 on older video cards using the DirectX 7, 8, and 9 renderers. GeForceFX cards shouldn't even bother with the DirectX 9 renderer, but the DirectX 8 renderer works great. All you really lose is some of the cooler water effects. The DirectX 7 renderer makes the game nicely playable even with a GeForce4 MX. It doesn't look as good as the other renderers, but it works. Valve seem to have done an excellent job making this game scalable.

DOOM3 Expansion Info

Someone on the PlanetDoom forums posted some information on the DOOM3 expansion from the latest issue of Computer Gaming World. It's the second post down on that page. I hope the expansion lets you take care of some "unfinished business" that you have at the end of DOOM3.
