Linux DOOM3 Servers Spotted

The folks at Doom3Linux spotted some DOOM3 Linux servers, possibly hinting that the Linux binaries are right around the corner. I hope that's the case. I want to see the game in all its glory. Or at least as much glory as my system can handle :)

Pondering the Imponderable

I just saw my first pinky demon in DOOM3. Hehehemuhaha. *cough* Unfortunately, I was nearly mauled because I was spending so much time admiring how cool it looked. Man, where are those Linux binaries?!?

WINE-ing about DOOM3

Well, I got DOOM3 yesterday from Circuit City (no affiliation, yadda, yadda) for $44.99. I did manage to get it working with plain old WINE. Unfortunately, there are some graphics issues. The two main ones are that the terminals you are supposed to interact with are all static and the framerates are what might be considered puke-inducing. There's also a nasty problem with the flashlight that blocks a good chunk of the lower right part of the screen. I was able to play enough to know that it is a genuinely spooky, immersive game--way different from any previous id title, IMO. Details will follow, likely after the Linux client is finally released.
