Mozilla 1.7 Released

The Mozilla team has released version 1.7 of their popular web browsing suite. You can check out the release notes and download a copy for the OS of your choice. Mine is compiling even as we speak. 1.7 replaces 1.4 as the new stable branch.

MS Steps Back from AdTI Report

Even Microsoft itself, who helped pay for the Alexis de Tocqueville report on Linux culminating in the Ken Brown book Samizdat, is backing away from the report. Groklaw has all the details. Note that AdTI got after Linux Today for linking to the story, implying that they were stealing the article from the Wall Street Journal. Apparently the concept of cross-licensing content is a foreign one to them. Either they are ignorant or knowingly distorting the truth. They wouldn't do that, would they?

Linux Kernel 2.6.7 Released

Linus and the gang have released the 2.6.7 Linux kernel. The big reason to upgrade (if you are running 2.6.x right now) is that this kernel includes a fix for the recently discovered bug where a local user could lock the box up. Naturally, you should hit one of the mirrors to download this one. I know that I am!

Update! I am now fully upgraded to 2.6.7. Faster and, dare I say, sexier than ever!
