Siding with SCO?

In this case, yes. The authors of the MyDOOM worm made it so that the compromised systems will DDOS SCO.com. SCO has offered a quarter million dollar reward for information leading to the authors' arrest and conviction. I'm with SCO on this one. Virus/worm authors need to be stopped. Given SCO's finances, I have to wonder where they are going to come up with the cash. Thanks Slashdot.

Pondering the Imponderable

Well, I did manage to get ALSA working with the 2.6.1 Linux kernel. I still have a few bugs that need to be worked out, but nothing serious. For example, for some reason now the modules for ohci, uhci, and ehci (aka USB 2.0) USB are all being loaded, even though I only need ohci. Hotplug seems to be a bit goofy too. For example, I have to manually modprobe the visor module to get my PDA to sync. Basically, I'll be happy when a 2.6 version of Slackware comes out :)

The Critic: Now on DVD

Just this morning my wife and I were again laughing at "Edward Plungerhands", even though we haven't seen any episodes of The Critic in years. Guess what? Today the entire series was released on DVD! It was absent from all the Sunday sale ads and completely slipped past me, but I'm going to get this one as soon as I possibly can. I'll bet that A.T.'s on his way to pick it up within minutes. One of the best shows ever.

A.T. Hun comments: The Critic is a classic. I'll have to watch the sales. Hmm, my birthday is approaching . . .

NVIDIA 1.0-5336 Linux Driver Released

NVIDIA has released the 1.0-5336 driver for their various products in Linux. Here's a list of the major changes. The first is the biggest one:

Now I can use the same driver, regardless of whether I'm using a 2.4.x or 2.6.x kernel. I just need to install it in 2.4, reboot to 2.6, and then run the driver setup with the -K option to compile a new kernel module. Very slick. And yes, I'm posting this from 2.6.1. Thanks Linux Games.
