Wings Win!

The puck was officially dropped on another Detroit Red Wings season tonight. The Captain himself, Steve Yzerman, scored with 1.7 seconds left to give the Winged Wheelers a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings. Man, I love hockey. I'm glad it's back. Hopefully the players and owners can get a new CBA hammered out before this one ends at the end of the season.

EMusic Becomes Worthless

EMusic announced that it is changing its subscription system after being bought out. Instead of unlimited downloads for $14.99/mo ($9.99/mo if you signed up for a year), it will now be $9.99/mo for 25 downloads, or about three albums. Mind you, this is without having many new or popular artists available. Gah, I'm glad I subscribed when I did. Mark this down: EMusic will go completely under within a year. Thanks Slashdot.

Tungsten E and Linux

I just tried to sync my new Palm Tungsten E with my Linux box. It worked out-of-the-box with the same settings as I had for my Visor! This is with Slackware 9.0. I sync using JPilot 0.99.5 with pilot-link 0.11.5. Can't get much easier than that!

I also discovered a way to massively increase the speed on USB transfers with my PDA. If you are using the Pilot-Link tools directly, use usb:/dev/ttyUSB1 for the port (with the -p switch). If you are using something like JPilot, put the same thing in the preferences for the serial port. The difference is breathtaking.
