OpenOffice.org 1.1 Released

Oops! I forgot to mention this one the other day. OpenOffice.org released version 1.1.0 of their popular open-source office suite. For those of you living under rocks, OpenOffice.org provides a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation software, etc. All the apps import MS Office files very nicely. If you are sick of having to fork over $300 just to get minor updates to your office apps, check OpenOffice.org out. You can't beat the price, that's for sure.

Half-Life 2 Code Stolen

According to various sources, the source code for Half-Life 2 has been stolen and made available for download on the Internet. Some claim that it even included the CD-key authentication code and the Steam code. If that is true, Valve could have some serious problems to contend with. Counterstrike had enough cheaters as it was. Hopefully we'll hear something offical soon.

The Master comments: Update! There's a post on the HL2 forums indicating that this is an actual theft of the HL2 source, done via some very insidious hacking of Valve's computer systems. Ouch.

A.T. Hun comments: Newell believes that someone used a . . . wait for it! . . . Outlook exploit to gain access to his box. The good news is that I just happen to have moderator points on Slashdot right now. I'm using them to mod down idiots who are posting links to the source.
