Fan Filtering

A little while ago I mentioned the large amount of dust that had gotten in my box. I bought a bag of NaturalAire foam (designed for window air conditioners) for a song at Wal-Mart to give a spin. Its rather porous so it shouldn't impede airflow too much, but still filter out a lot of "stuff". As it so happens, in the latest issue of Dan's Data letters he suggests doing the very same thing. I'll see how it goes.

Forklift Driver Klaus

This is at the same time very funny and very disturbing. Yes, it's time for the strange adventures of Staplerfahrer Klaus (aka Forklift Driver Klaus). And they say the Germans have no sense of humor. You can also see some behind-the-scenes shots and view the whole short (Windows Media Player required). It makes me wish my German was better. Thanks Blue's News.

UPDATE Here's a link to a 90M mpeg of the same thing. I highly recommend this higher quality version.

J.t.Qbe comments: Seriously twisted. Not quite up to the level of Sam Peckinpah's "Salad Days", but close. [sniff]

A.T. Hun comments: Or John Wayne's "Buckets of Blood Pouring Out of People's Heads."

Bleh

Finally getting back to work building the new Haus box. It's been quite some time since I had to build a linux system from scratch. Not to mention just how STUPID rpms can sometimes be. Dependency handling is fine, but for the labor involved, a source install is the bomb. Heck, I think the CPAN dependency resolution tools for Perl are better.

Pondering the Imponderable

Well, the other shoe (skate?) has fallen. Former Red Wing Sergei Fedorov has signed with the Mighty Ducks for less than the Wings had offered him. I guess the fact that the Wings helped him defect, that he won three Cups with them, that he had the most ice time of any forward on the team last year, and that they offered more cash just wasn't enough. New Wing Derian Hatcher will have to introduce him to the boards at the Joe the next time the Ducks are in town.

I've been playing the Penultima series of modules for Neverwinter Nights tonight. So far it seems very well written and designed. There's a lot of humor involved, so don't expect something horribly dark and foreboding. I didn't think that a NWN module could make me laugh out loud. Penultima proved me wrong.

In a related story, a little birdie (OK, it was J.t.Qbe) told me that Best Buy (no affiliation, yadda, yadda) will have the NWN expansion Shadows of Undrentide on sale for $19.99 starting tomorrow.
