UT2K4 Screenies

GenGamers posted some new screenshots of Unreal Tournament 2004, coming soon from Epic and Digital Extremes. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they implement all the vehicles. Thanks Shacknews.

More WineX

This must be "fill up A.T.'s hard drive day." Now that I've figured out how to give myself more space for WineX games, I busted out my Half-Life CDs and reinstalled it, OpFor, and Blue Shift (along with, of course, Team Fortress and DeathMatch Classic too). H-L runs quite well. The menus are a little wonky, but it works. Just what I need . . . way more excuses to play games!

More Space For WineX Games

If you use Transgaming's WineX to play Windows games in Linux, you need to install the games in your /home directory. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough space to install Diablo II and have room for much of anything else. Following a tip on Transgaming's site, I did the following:

As root, I issued these two commands (replace "username" with your user name):

mkdir /games
chown username: /games

Then, in my regular user account, I issued these commands per the instructions at the above link:

mv ~/.transgaming /games
rm ~/TransGaming_Drive
ln -s /games/.transgaming ~
ln -s /games/.transgaming/c_drive ~/TransGaming_Drive

Now I can use the space in my / partition instead of eating up all of my /home space. I now have both Jedi Outcast and Diablo II: Lord of Destruction installed. Both games work great. We'll see what else we can get to work :)

Diablo II 1.10 Beta Patch Released

Lo and behold! Blizzard has released a beta version of the 1.10 patch for the U.S. Windows version of Diablo II: Lord of Destruction. The final patch will work on all versions of Diablo II and Diablo II: LoD. Hmmm, I might just have to dust off my CDs and give it a whirl! Thanks Shacknews.

Happy Fourth!

A big happy Fourth o' July to all of you Americans out there! Use this long weekend to be thankful for all the blessings and freedoms we enjoy. I hope bin Laden and co. have a simply miserable day (or maybe happen upon an unexploded cluster bomb).
