Torvalds on Linux, SCO

eWeek posted an interview with Linus Torvalds about Linux in general as well as the SCO stupidity. Read the article and you will see why my hero in the open source/free software word is not Eric Raymond, it's definitely not Richard Stallman, it's Linus Torvalds. Thanks Linux Today.

BTW, I am now officially putting a moratorium on SCO articles until IBM has finished grinding them into little pieces. I'm just sick of hearing about it.

Pondering the Imponderable

Since we were in the Twin Cities for over 12 hours, we were required by state law to go to the Mall of America. Actually, my boys just like going to Lego Land, and who can blame them. We came away with some Star Wars stuff, including some legos and a couple of figures (I finally found my hero, Kit Fisto).

Being forced to use AOL dialup has proven to be a benefit for me. My wife commented that she wouldn't be able to stand how slow it is. Looks like I've just justified broadband forever. Of course, she really wasn't complaining about it before, thankfully.

I haven't gotten very far in my Twin Cities beer adventure, but I'm going to be working on that. I'm hoping to hit a few good brewpubs or microbreweries before my return. Right now, my inlaws have Pilsner Urquell in bottles. Amazingly, it is in excellent condition--very fresh!

Bleh

That was a slow news weekend. Thank goodness, since we were all busy :-)

Well, my 31st birthday managed to slip past without any abuse. Heh :-) However, I did catch flack for one thing. I am now a Harry Potter fan. Fear. Dunno what happened. First time I watched the movie, I was entertained, but that was all. Then I caught it again on satellite and now I'm hooked. I actually talked Eeyore into taking me to the bookstore on Saturday morning, at 8 am, so I could get the new book. That is sick and wrong. But the books are very good, so there :-)

I obviously need some new shooters to occupy me. I must be going mad.

A.T. Hun comments: "Going" mad? Heh. Hehehe. Bwahaha! Of course, my wife had pre-ordered the book from Satan^H^H^H^H^HAmazon.com and got it right before we left on vacation. I can honestly say that I have not read a single word of any of the Potter books. I've watched a few minutes of the first two films on DVD, but that's it. I like the fact that ex-Python John Cleese has a bit part in the series, but that's about all I can say for it.

The Master comments: I'd retort, but I guess I can never escape the truth :-) I also didn't realize Cleese was in there (Nearly-headless Nick), but I'm not as attached to Python as A.T. is. Had to check that one on imdb.
