Bleh

Ah, the joys of cleaning carpets. I've never seen so much black crud in my life :-)

Okay, I've looked at the clips of both Doom 3 and Half-Life 2, and honestly I'm not sure what the big deal is about HL2. I wasn't all that amazed. If the story is worthy I may be impressed. I'm looking forward to Deus Ex 2, D3 and UT2004 myself. I desperately hope they make some more double-dom maps. That's just me, of course :-)

Update: Purchased a USB hub today to allow me to hook up our printer and our digital camera without swapping cables. Quick tip for installation: connect the hub FIRST, make sure it is properly identified and installed in your hardware wizard, THEN connect the USB devices to the hub. Otherwise Windows does dumb thingstm

A.T. Hun comments: The big thing about Half-Life 2 for me is the physics. I like that one gun that can basically turn anything (even a letter from a marquee) into a weapon. Very cool. I think we're getting close to the point where there's enough computing power out there to do some serious physics. I want to make buildings fall down :)

J.t.Qbe comments: I'm pretty bleh on shooters myself. The games I'm looking forward to this year are RPGs: Gothic 2 and Temple of Elemental Evil, along with the expansions for Morrowind (released last week) and Neverwinter Nights.

I think I'm most looking forward to this next week, though: a few weeks ago Just RPG announced its most recent giveaway--a Gameboy Advance SP and the two GBA Golden Sun RPGs. Late Thursday night I caught the site's weekly update--and found out that I'd won! I'll be receiving the GBA and games this coming week. I've never had a Gameboy and have never been able to justify the expense of buying one, so this will be a treat.

Elite Force 2 Team Canned

Hot on the heels of the announcement that Elite Force 2 has gone gold, Ritual announces that the team has been laid off. Let's just hope that the game doesn't need any patches or anything. From the previews I've read of the new CounterStrike, maybe they laid the wrong team off.

Red Wings Awards

Congratulations go out to several Red Wings for winning NHL season awards. Nick Lidstrom became the first to win three Norris Trophies in a row for best defenseman since the legendary Bobby Orr. Captain Steve Yzerman (my hero) won the Masterton Trophy for perseverance in coming back from major knee surgery. Brendan Shanahan won the King Clancy Trophy for humanitarianism. Too bad they didn't get the one that really matters, the Stanley Cup.
