NWN Demo Released

Bioware has released a demo of Neverwinter Nights, their popular D&D RPG. Oddly enough, there is no mention of it yet on the NWN site. You can download it from FileShack. Pack a lunch, though, it weighs in at a massive 390M!

UPDATE! It's on Bioware's NWN site now. Check out here.

Serious Sam: First Encounter Linux Beta

Ryan "icculus" Gordon has begun a public beta for the Linux version of Serious Sam: First Encounter. The beta is not network compatible with the Windows version and it does not support the Second Edition (yet). Thanks Linux Games.

Lindows Dumps WINE Altogether

ExtremeTech posted a review of Lindows 3.0 and still liked it, although I don't entirely understand why. Thankfully the Lindows team has made it easier (or at least more obvious) to add user other than root. They don't say if it runs as root by default. It also doesn't come with very much software, unless you pony up a C note for their "ClickNRun" warehouse or learn to use apt-get. Most interesting, version 3.0 doesn't even come with WINE. They have given up entirely on running Windows programs. While that makes sense, it also eliminates the only thing that really set Lindows apart from any other Linux distribution.

So basically you have Debian with a nicer installation program and more newbie-ized menus. Rah. Why not just cut out the middleman and get Debian? It seems there is very little reason to choose Lindows over, say, Red Hat 8 or Mandrake 9.

Upcoming UT2K3 Patch Fixes

Unreality posted a list of fixes and changes that will be in the next Unreal Tournament 2003 patch. No ETA has been given for the patch. Thanks Blue's News.

RtCW 1.41 Patch

Activision has released the 1.41 patch for Return to Castle Wolfenstein. This patch fixes some bugs in the anti-lag and prediction code. It is available for both Windows and Linux. You can snag it from 3D Gamers. Thanks Linux Games.
