Favorite UT2K3 Maps

I recently finished the UT2K3 single player ladder for the second time. Having gone through all the maps, I've found that there are some I keep coming back to.

Maybe The Master will chime in with his favorites too . . . The best part is that Asbestos and Temple of Anubis are in the demo. Check it out if you haven't already!

The Master comments: My biggest problem is I am completely addicted to double domination. I like ALL of the maps in that, and I am trying to hone my skillz at both O and D. Sun Temple bothers me because it almost always seems to come down to initial spawn position for domination of game. When I get spawned in the lower middle area near the RL, no problem. If I'm spawned anyplace else it always seems like I'm getting pounded down before I ever get any shots in. I am getting better at that one tho. I intend to try to play through the BR and CTF levels again, since those are all a good time. The CTF levels are the toughest of any CTF game by far.

NFL Week #12 Final

Oops! I just realized that I forgot to post the final stats from last weekend's games. Oh yeah, now I remember why. I went 8-8 and Eeyore was 9-7. Year-to-date that makes me 111-64-1 (.631) and Eeyore is 99-76-1 (.563). Hopefully this weekend will be less . . . mediocre.

NFL Lucky Week #13

Eeyore and I are both 1-1 after the Thanksgiving slate o' games. Here are my predictions for the rest of this week's contests: Dolphins, Packers, Giants, Chiefs, Ravens, Browns, Steelers, Falcons, Colts, Broncos, Rams, 49ers, Bucs, Raiders.

The Master comments: Eeyore's picks: Chiefs, Ravens, Packers, Steelers, Falcons, Broncos, Dolphins, Giants, Chargers, 49er's, Colts, Rams, Bucs, Raiders

NWN Linux Client Update

Bioware updated their Neverwinter Nights Linux Client page with some information on the status of the port. Here 'tis:

Linux development this week has been focused primarily on audio. We have found that sound in general has been taking longer than we had hoped, but such is development. Progress is being made, and we will continue working on the sound until all the remaining issues are resolved.

Mozilla DHTML Bug

The Mozilla team has discovered a bug in Mozilla 1.2 that would cause DHTML on some sites to fail. They will be releasing 1.2.1 to fix that problem soon (although I suspect that with the holidays, "soon" might mean "Monday").

Dark Forces JKII Mod Demo Level

There is a mod team working on converting all of Dark Forces to work with Jedi Knight II. They have released a demo level for you to try out. I haven't played Dark Forces in a LONG time (hmm, I wonder how hard it would be to install using WINE . . .), but the demo level immediately brought back memories. It's kind of frightening how well I remembered how the level is laid out. If you own JKII, you definitely want to check this one out.

Radeon 2.5.1 XFree86 4.x Drivers Released

ATI has released new Linux XFree86 drivers for their Radeon 8x00 and 9x00 line of cards. This is listed among the changes: "'Powered By ATI' products install properly." I don't know if this means that the drivers now work with non-ATI-branded cards or not. Has anyone tried these bad-boys? Thanks Linux Games.

UPDATE! Yessir! These drivers are supposed to work with all Radeon 8x00 and 9x00 cards, regardless of whether they are actually made by ATI or not.

New NVIDIA nForce 1.0-0248 Linux Drivers

If I were building a whole new system today (and I'm not), I would give NVIDIA's nForce2-based motherboards a long look. They have just released new Linux drivers that support both the original nForce and the nForce2. These drivers provide audio and networking support. Their video card drivers will support the on-board video, if any. The other features, such as on-board USB, are handled by the kernel drivers. Pretty cool stuff--it almost makes me wish I was building a new box. Thanks Linux Games.

Offtopic: if you haven't done so already, go see Linux Games' new design. It almost makes me want to give The Haus a facelift. Hmmm . . .
