NFL Week #11 Picks -- 9:41 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

I'll keep it short, sweet, and to the point. Here are my picks for this week's NFL schedule: Colts, Saints, Bills, Steelers, Giants, Jaguars, Eagles, Browns, Packers, 49ers, Bucs, Jets, Broncos, Dolphins, Raiders, Rams. And here are Eeyore's picks since they were mailed to me in case she went into labor (as far as I know, she hasn't): Eagles, Browns, Packers, Saints, Redskins, Bills, Colts, Jaguars, Steelers, 49ers, Bucs, Dolphins, Broncos, Jets, Raiders, Rams. Only one different? Yikes!

NWN Linux Client Update -- 9:20 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

The Bioware team made their weekly update on the status of the Neverwinter Nights Linux client. It seems that if there wasn't as much progress on it as we would have liked, we can just blame Canada. Here's the news:

Short weeks always play havoc with development, and in Canada we had Monday off for Rememberance Day. The result was that we were far to busy in development to have screenshots this week but did a bunch of multiplayer "testing" and bug-fixing. A great deal of time was spent playing competitive multiplayer modules connected to the Mac Client/Server version. Playing the game too much is also bad for development, but good for testing. :)

WineX 2.2.1 So Far -- 10:47 am CST, Update by A.T. Hun

I've done a little testing with the CVS version of the recently-released WineX 2.2.1. Jedi Knight II does seems snappier, although I don't know if it's 200-300% snappier. I will note that programs seem to load much faster. I messed with Quicken for a bit today. It came right up and amazingly didn't crash although you still need to be gentle with it. If you haven't updated in a while, now would seem like a good time.

EMI Offers Downloadable Music -- 9:27 am CST, Update by A.T. Hun

EMI has announced a plan to offer downloadable music. Unlike similar systems, the music you download is yours forever, not just until your subscription runs out. They also promise "the technical capability to burn a limited number of personal copies and the flexibility to import recordings to portable devices." No word if the "limited number" means you can burn it a limited number of times or if there is a limited number of tracks you may burn. They will even release tracks before the album hits stores. We'll have to see what their pricing will be before I pass judgment. It's good to see that the record industry may finally be waking up. Thanks Slashdot.
