Bleh

Was doing some snooping around on the NASA Human Spaceflight website today, and saw that there was a very good opportunity for me to observe the International Space Station streaking across our evening sky here in Green Bay, WI. Very cool, even though I only got to see a couple seconds of it slipping away. We had 50% cloudcover that blocked most of the later half of the pass, and my eyes just aren't up to seeing that kind of object in the sky. Thankfully I had Eeyore to point out the streaking star in our sky.

Deus Ex 2 Q&A

Gamespot has a Q&A with ION Storm's Harvey Smith reviewing Deus Ex 2: Invisible War. While there's nothing earth-shattering in the review, there are a couple of new screenshots of the game in there, and some discussion of the new physics engine and the completely new attitude towards AI and the player interaction with the environment. Good stuff.

Another MOO3 Interview

Apolyton Civilization has posted an interview with Quicksilver's Rantz Hoseley on the current status of Master of Orion 3. There's a bunch of info on the current status of the game, and all the changes that have been made (no IFP! YEAH!) in the game since they started internal testing.

DOOM III Rendering

Beyond3D posted a very technical interview with id's John Carmack about the rendering technology of the DOOM III engine. Don't expect to understand a whole lot of it unless you understand the details of a modern 3D renderer. Otherwise, your brain might explode. I know mine did. Thanks Blue.

Thinking Machines(?)

Shacknews linked to a fascinating article on MSNBC about Cyc, a database system that is being taught commen-sense truths about the world, in order to attempt to create a thinking machine. Fascinating article for the computer geeks in the crowd.

Think Tank Talks Marketing Trash

The Register put up an interesting article about a "think tank" called the Alexis de Tocqueville Institution, which has released its study of the dangers of open-source software. AdTI is a M$ funded institution, so it's study is a complete pile of B$ filled with Micro$peak. This one comes courtesy of Bearkey Alerts.
