Good Game Deals

Best Buy (no affiliation, etc) has a nice selection of games on sale starting this Sunday. For $34.99 each you can have: Might & Magic IX, Heroes IV, Freedom Force or Wolfenstein. Get 'em while they're hot, or at least lukewarm.

Darth Maul Double 'Saber

There's a cheat code in Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast to enable a double-bladed lightsaber a la Darth Maul in Episode I. It only works in multiplayer with cheats enabled. Hopefully in a future patch they can fix some of the animations (the one blade tends to cut through your model--without doing damage) and make it "official." Here's how, as posted on several JKII sites:
  1. Fire up JKII multiplayer
  2. Start a game with cheats enable via this console command: devmap ffa_bespin
  3. Switch to the lightsaber and then turn it off
  4. Pull down the console and type the command: thedestroyer
  5. Enjoy some double-bladed action!
Although the one blade does not harm you when it appears to cut through you, it will damage opponents! JediKnightII.net has some screenshots of it in action.

Obi-Wan, I Ain't

I played a little Jedi Outcast multiplayer versus a bot tonight. I 0wned him when I used weapons, but as soon as I started relying on force powers and the 'saber, I got my rear end kicked. I've got to break out of the hack 'n' slash mode.

Thankfully I found out that a couple of other guys I know have JKII so hopefully I can hone my skillz on them (assuming Crawl gives me the password this time).
