Loki Is Dead: Long Live Loki

Ryan "icculus" Gordon offers his take on the demise of Loki and what it means for the Linux gaming community. He also announces that all of Loki's open-source CVSs (for their installer, OpenAL, etc.) will now be hosted by icculus.org. That's the great thing about open-source. Even though Loki is no more, their contributions live on and will continue to benefit the Linux community. Thanks Linux Games.

Cool Mozilla Tricks

Here's a handy command to add to your prefs.js file if you run Mozilla (or, presumably, Netscape 6.x):
user_pref("dom.disable_open_during_load", true);
That code disables pop-up/under windows, but still allows for pop-ups when you click on something. You need to edit the prefs.js file when Mozilla isn't running because it overwrites the file when it closes. I've tested it on a couple of sites that are notorious for pop-ups/unders and it works very nicely. Here's to a somewhat less annoying web!
