OK, One More Time Slooowly

I still see some sites bitching that Return to Castle Wolfenstein was priced by some retailers for nearly $60, especially in light of the fact that it is now on sale for $29. Look. I've said this before, I'll say it again. If you pay full price (that is, MSRP) for a game, much less MORE than full price, you are an idiot. Every game goes on sale. Wait a week or two. If you can't wait don't go griping in every forum on God's own earth about how you got ripped off. Seems to me the REAL problem is that too many people fit far too clearly into P.T. Barnum's analysis of humanity.

NFL Week #13 Final

Eeyore and I split the ones we had different, making us both a very robust 11-4. It's been awhile since we kicked butt and took names. At any rate, that makes me 115-73 (.612) and Eeyore is 107-81 (.569). Hooray for us!

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to enjoy my frightfully dry martini . . .

Pondering the Imponderable

Well, I knew it would happen eventually. I am downloading the latest Mozilla nightly build. For the first time that I've had broadband, a 512K download seems slow. Aaarrrrgghh! Heaven help me if I ever have to go back to dial-up . . .

The Master comments: Heh-I know that feeling both at work (full T1) and at home (cable modem, 1.5mb DL [supposedly-never seen it tho]). When I get a 250kb/sec download, it's wonderful. I average 45kb or so. I don't mind. That's tons better than 3.2k/sec :-)

Happy Birthday, DOOM!

I saw on Blue's that today marks the eighth anniversary of the release of the shareware version of DOOM. It's hard for me to believe that it has been that long, but on the other hand it seems like it has been around forever. 1993 doesn't sound that long ago, bit I guess it is . . .

Q3A/RtCW Master Server Issues

id's Graeme Devine updated his .plan with information on an unexpected upgrade to the Quake III Arena / Return to Castle Wolfenstein master server. He also mentions how to resolve some CD key issues and that multiple users of the same CD key will be banned.

RtCW Sale

id's Todd Hollenshead updated his .plan with word that Circuit City (no affiliation) has Return to Castle Wolfenstein on sale for $29.99 this week. Now that's a sale price I can live with.

Need a PDA?

I saw in today's circular that Target stores have Handspring Visor Deluxes for $117. That's a screaming deal. If you don't have a PDA and were waiting for the right deal, this is it. No affiliation, yadda, yadda. Also, Handspring is dropping the price on the Visor Edge from $299 to $269.
