Crossover Plugin

I finally broke down and shelled out the cash for the Crossover plugin from Codeweavers. This handy bit of code allows you to run QuickTime movies, among other things, in Linux using WINE. The clincher for me was that it allows you to run Microsoft's DOC viewer, since some demented people insist on sending me things in that God-forsaken format. Actually I have to use that viewer when I'm in Windows too since I don't own (and refuse to buy) Office.

All in all Crossover is a good deal for $19.95. Plus it helps support Codeweavers' WINE development so you get that warm and squishie feeling inside.

Post-Thanksgiving Ponderings

For the first time in several years I am home on the day after Thanksgiving and not fighting the maddening crowds at Best Buy. The good news is that there is college football on today as well as Junkyard Wars all day on TLC. The bad news is that I have about a day and a half of work to get done. That and the leftover turkey in the fridge keeps on calling . . . calling . . . calling . . .
