TW:CTF Unification Released!

At long last the ThreeWave CTF Unification mod for Quake III Arena has been released! Check out the list of mirrors. It is available as both a 123M Windows executable and a 120M zip file. W00t! Read the manual to get the scoop on the new gametypes, Classic CTF (with runes and a grapple) and CaptureStrike. Natually, regular Q3A CTF is also supported. What are you waiting for?

Harvey Smith IGDA keynote address

There's an excellent reproduction of Harvey "witchboy" Smith's keynote for IGDA online over on the IGDA website. Harvey reviews what he thinks is next for immersive games in the future, using Deus Ex and Thief as examples to draw from. Excellent article, highly recommended.

Thanks to Blue's for this one.

Too Weird for Words

Either it's a hoax or it's one of the funniest things in the history of the world. Enjoy. Thanks to J.t.Qbe for the email and Evil Avatar for the Fox News link.

Torvalds Interview

OS News posted an interview with the father of the Linux kernel, Linus Torvalds. I've always admired Linus for his complete, almost ruthless, honesty. He never plays the politician and always says how he feels. A classic example is this blurb from the interview:
8. What is your opinion on RMS insisting calling Linux as GNU/Linux?

Linus Torvalds: I don't mind what rms calls the system. I don't think his arguments for the naming are very valid, but hey, at the same time I really couldn't care less.
Thanks Slashdot.

Threewave Screenshots

PlanetQuake posted a slew of screenshots of the Threewave Unification project for Quake III Arena. The much-anticipated mod is supposed to be released tomorrow! Huzzah!

Pondering the Imponderable

Yesterday afternoon, during a rare moment that I was actually home yesterday, J.t.Qbe and I played Diablo II online. It was probably the first time we had played an RPG together since the late eighties. A good time was had by all. The only problem I noticed was a little hitching every so often when my character would run a bit ahead as my client got caught up. A minor annoyance.

NFL Week #4 Final

Despite my Lions making a strong bid for the coveted "worst team in the NFL" label, my picks were good, netting me a final record of 12-3 for the week. Eeyore was 9-6. Year-to-date I am 40-18 (.690) and Eeyore is 32-26 (.552).
