NFL Week #4 Picks -- 10:40 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

Another sloooow news day. Anyway, here are my picks for week #4 in the NFL: Bears, Dolphins, Giants, Ravens, Eagles, Steelers, Saints, Chargers, Jets, Jaguars (Jet Jaguar!), Broncos, Raiders, Bucs, 49ers, Rams. I hope the Lions don't embarrass themselves on Monday night, but I've got a feeling they are going to be destroyed. Of course, they have this nasty tendency to play WAY over their heads on national T.V. at home.

Threewave Release Date -- 12:42 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

Shacknews is reporting that the Threewave Quake III Arena CTF Unification project mod (whew!) will be released on October 11 at 4:00 P.M. U.S. Pacific time. Included will be 35 maps that will work with the new gametypes as well as all of the Team Arena gametypes. I can't wait!

Serious Sam Port FAQ -- 12:24 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

Ryan "icculus" Gordon updated his .plan with a FAQ for his port-in-progress of Serious Sam to Linux. Here's a snip:

Q: Then why are you doing this? [ed note: porting Serious Sam for no money]

A: Because I like the game. Because it looks good on a resume. Because I enjoy this sort of thing. Because I have the luxury of being able to take the time to do this at this point in my life. Because if the Serious Engine is portable to Linux, it becomes more likely that Serious licensees will do Linux ports of their games, too.

I wish I could say, "Oh, I think I'll port a game." My hat's off to folks like that.

I saw that one of my new favorite shows (now that we have Comedy Central), Let's Bowl!, has a website of its own. I used to watch a campy bowling show out of Milwaukee when I was in school called "Let's Go Bowling!" which was unintentionally hilarious. You've got to see it to believe it.
