OS X Wolfie Released

id has released the "official" Return to Castle Wolfenstein multiplayer test for the Mac OS X. You can get it from id's FTP server or from Blue's News.

Gartner Group: Dump IIS

The Gartner Group is advising businesses to dump IIS as their webserver and switch to Apache or some other alternative in view of all the recent worm attacks. Of course, if you don't patch, it doesn't matter what webserver you use, you'll be vulnerable. Thanks Slashdot.

OS X Wolfie Today

id's Graeme Devine updated his .plan with word that the "official" version of the Return to Castle Wolfenstein multiplayer test for OS X will be released today. Here's a snip:
Well, I've been getting a few hundred emails a day from people testing the OS X build of RTCW. Thanks for ALL the feedback, unbelievably positive. I've done my best to keep up with all of you in replying, but this morning, with 413 still unread, it's a wee bit daunting. Thanks also for all the icons, wallpapers, and so forth.

I'll be putting up a full public installer today. We've moved the network protocol on internally, which makes making a compatible builds from here on in much harder, but a bunch of the bugs found by the OS X testers helped greatly in tracking down general bugs for all platforms.

Bleh

Heh-just read User Friendly, and today's cartoon is quite funny. Gotta love those Microsoft EULAs (story) :-)

NFL Week #2 So Far

Ugly, ugly, ugly. That's all I can say. Ty Detmer with 7 interceptions?!? What's up with that? At any rate, with two games to go this week I am an even 6-6 and Eeyore is 4-8.

Half-Life 1.1.0.8 Buffer Overflow

Security Focus is reporting that there is a buffer overflow vulnerability in the Half-Life 1.1.0.8 client. It could allow any Half-Life server op to run arbitrary code on any client. Whee! Thanks Blue.

NFL Week #2 Picks

Yikes! I almost forgot! Here we go: Ravens, Colts, Panthers, Lions, Vikings, Chiefs, Dolphins, Chargers, Titans, Jets, Eagles, Rams, Broncos, Packers. I ended up 11-4 in week one. Eeyore was 8-7.

Eeyore's picks: Falcons, Ravens, Colts, Browns, Vikings, Giants, Raiders, Cowboys, Titans, Patriots, Seahawks, 49ers, Broncos, Packers

A.T. Hun comments: Once again I underlined the differences. Just a few this week *cough*
