Half-Life 1.1.0.8 Wednesday -- 8:56 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

Blue got word that Valve will be releasing the 1.1.0.8 patch for Half-Life on Wednesday at 11 A.M. PST (9 A.M. CST). This patch will include the new spectator features and voice-over-ip.

New Visors -- 7:26 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

Handspring has introduced two new Visor PDAs, the Pro and the Neo. VisorCentral has reviews of both the Pro and the Neo available. Personally, neither of them thrill me. Both include PalmOS 3.5. The only advantage over my deluxe is that the Pro has a faster processor, 16M memory, and a lithium ion battery. The Neo only adds a faster processor and new colors. Whee. I'll consider upgrading when they come out with a Visor that combines the Edge slim form-factor along with the Prism's color screen.

Whilst we're talking about Visors, I did notice in the Best Buy flier (no affiliation, yadda, yadda) that they are starting to carry more Springboard modules. The prices of the modules are dropping to the point that it makes sense to consider some of them. I'd REALLY like a module that would allow me to use my Visor as a standard cellphone, not one that requires you to be within six inches of a town with more than half a million people.

id's Graeme Devine updated his .plan with news that there will be some downtime on the Return to Castle Wolfenstein test master server today. Of course, by time it finally showed up on Webdog, the work was probably already done (Blue and Webdog seem to be having some "issues" this morning). However, he did have an update on the Max OS X port:

The OS X dedicated server and client //should// be done today, there was a bunch of changes to the general codebase before the test went out, and it seemed wiser to allow that hubbub to settle down a bit.

Whelp, it's Monday, and across our country everyone is trying to go back to work as normal. The stock markets are open. They are predictably down, but they are open and functioning normally. Major League Baseball resumes its regular schedule. The National Hockey League begins its pre-season (W00t! Go Wings!) Terrorists stunned us momentarily, but they didn't drop us. Does the term "rope-a-dope" mean anything to you, Mr. Terrorist?

Wolfie Test Linux Server Released -- 1:28 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

id's Robert Duffy updated his .plan with word of the Linux dedicated server for the Return to Castle Wolfenstein multiplayer test. Here's the scoop:

The dedicated Linux server installs for Linux are now available. THe smaller (2 MB) version does NOT have media so you will need the Win32 setup if you get it. The larger (65MB) version has everything you need. In general server commands are very similar to Q3A if not identical.
