UT 425 Patch for Linux

Epic and Loki announced that Loki will now be doing all the updating for Unreal Tournament in Linux. They have already released the 425 patch for the OS. I'm not sure what, if anything, this means for the OpenUT project, but I intend to find out.

UT 425 Patch

Epic has released the 425 Patch for Unreal Tournament. A full list of fixes can be found on Epic's release notes page. A complete list of mirrors is available here. It's a 6M download. Thanks Blue.

The Effects of Crunch Mode on the Human Mind

From the "a mind is a terrible thing to waste" department, Raven's Michael Raymond-Judy (and I thought I had it bad because I have two first names) updated his .plan, showing the mental damaged caused by the crunch to get Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force completed:
(to the tune of "Raindrops are Fallin' on My Head")
Caffeine if screaming through my veins,
If I get another bug I think I'll go insane!
I fixed this yesterday!
Oh, I'm never gonna stop these bugs from appearing,
Until I'm dead...

Q3A Jailbreak: Final Beta

The good folks at Team Reaction have released what will hopefully be the last beta version of their Jailbreak mod for Quake III Arena. Included is a new "clan mode" and (drum roll please) bot support! Thanks Blue.

ASUS Cheating Drivers Hacked

Riva 3D is reporting that the ASUS drivers that allowed for see-through textures, among other cheats, were leaked and hacked so that they will now work on any GeForce/GeForce2 card. Please send all flames, hate mail, etc. to the boneheads at ASUS who were stupid enough to come up with this idea in the first place.

Red Hat 7.0 Beta

In an interesting coincidence, I received email today that Red Hat has released a beta of version 7.0 of their popular Linux distribution. You can download it from the usual Red Hat mirror sites. Among the more interesting additions to 7.0 is XFree 4.0.x. I'm bold enough to run beta XFree, but I'm not bold enough to run a beta OS. I'll wait until this one is released in full.

Win2K SP1 Released

Microsoft has released Service Pack 1 for Windows 2000.
Service Pack 1 fixes scores of problems ranging from security issues to ensuring compatibility with more software and devices, and boosting the overall reliability of the program, Microsoft said.
So I guess the lesson to be learned here is download SP1 if you want Win2K to suck less.
