Wheel of Time Gold

I should have posted this when I got my finger update from PlanetQuake, but it's been confirmed that Legend Entertainment's Wheel of Time has gone gold. This is an exciting release, based on Robert Jordan's series of the same name. From what I've heard/seen, it's going to be an awesome adventure-type game.

Savage2000.com interviews Paul Ayscough

There's an interview with Paul Ayscough, Director of Marketing at S3, on savage2000.com. Interesting read, but mainly marketing fluff. I'm pumped about this card. On paper, it should wup up on the GeForce. Which is a good thing for competition, and good for us hardcore gamers :-)

Beta Webdog version 1050

Well, Richard Smith has released a beta version 1050 of Webdog for your edification. Check it, and let Richard know if there's any problems.

They're HEeeeerrrreee....

We're back after a serious stint of downtime. Upstream ISP decided to go and die on us. Sorry about that :-( As sCary likes to say, we'll get the perpetrators killed immediately :O Well, I've always said there really are gremlins...

Overclocking with the NVIDIA 3.53 Drivers

Planet Riva updated their site with information on how to get overclocking controls with the new drivers. Here's the full story:
If you want to overclock your core or memory settings on your TNT/TNT2's with the new 3.53 drivers. Open up your registry editor to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / NVidia Corporation / Global / NVTweak and add a new DWORD called CoolBits and give it a value of 3. After that, in your display properties (Settings/Advanced/RIVA TNT/Additional) you will have a new tab called "Hardware Options" which will allow you to adjust them.
PLEASE NOTE: Overclocking is risky business and can cause your card to overheat and/or be destroyed. The Haus cannot be held responsible for damage done to your hardware, pain and suffering, pattern baldness, insanity, or spontaneous decapitation which may come as a result of trying these tweaks.

Am I trying them? You betcha!

Carmack .plan Update

John Carmack updated his .plan (link forthcoming) with the news that id has hired someone to create and maintain their level editor. Here's a sample:
We have hired Robert Duffy as a full time employee, starting in December.

He has been maintaining the level editor since the release of Q2, but a number of things have convinced me it is time to have a full time tool-guy at id.
His .plan concludes with his current worklog. As The Master pointed out before, it seems to be a lot of polishing, instead of dramatic changes to the codebase.
